Mahatma had once rightly said,
“Educate a man and you educate one person.
Educate a woman and you educate the whole family.”
Education, in reality, is the most valuable gift that parents can give to their daughter. If a girl is educated then she can opt for a job if the need arises. So she would not be considered as a burden on the family. This would check the social evil of female foeticide. As an educated wife she would be interested in family planning as well…. Especially in the developing countries like India.
Women had less opportunities in almost every field and the time had come to empower them in every area. The rising number of women in the workforce may seem to indicate that they have finally attained a high degree of empowerment. Today women with their smartness, grace and elegance have conquered the whole world. They with their hard work and sincerity have excelled in each and every profession. Women are considered to be more honest, meticulous, and efficient and hence more and more companies prefer hiring women for better performance and result…………Thanks to the globalisation which has immense effect on women empowerment.
Wait…………………………………
This is just one face of the coin, but the other side is very cruel.
What about bride burning. Many married women commit suicide by burning themselves because they cannot not bear the tension and the strain that they and their parents are put through by their in-laws and sometimes by their husbands demanding dowry. The government had made the acts of receiving and giving dowry a criminal offence, but still dowry as a social evil exists.
Every third women in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata feels unsafe and sexual, financial discrimination is common in Chennai.
Thanks to the Indian government for promising that they will pass the women reservation bill in the fist parliament session itself. If the Bill is passed, one-third of the total available seats would be reserved for women in national, state, and local governments. In continuation of the existing provisions already mandating reservations for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, one-third of such SC and ST candidates must be women.
Is this women reservation bill really going to help the poor and needy women in rural areas?????, well it is a billion dollar question.
People who are in favour of the Bill say that this Bill is essential for active political participation of women, and the opponents argue that reservation would only help women of elitist groups gain political power, aggravating the plight of the poor and deprived sections……well one cannot rule out the opposition.
To conclude one can say that women in India have made much progress in the past century but still there is a need for proper solution for many problems. After all who can deny that one of our prime ministers
Indira Gandhi was a women. At least we are ahead of America in that respect where to date there has been no women president and they are not yet ready to accept it.

Great article man, i appreciate you. but….
“Educate a man and you educate one person.
Educate a woman and you educate the whole family.”
These are the words of a great educationist- Mahatma Phule. And not by Jawaharlal Nehru.
